Community guidelines

ChatMyRide works because the garages are real and the people behind them treat each other like they would at a good car show: curious, generous, and straight. Here is the standard we hold each other to.

1. The cars are real, so keep it honest

Document what you actually own, know, or saw. Misrepresenting a car — its numbers, its history, its ownership — is the one sin this community does not forgive. Provenance claims should be backed by evidence; "unknown" is always an acceptable answer.

2. Respect the person, argue the car

Disagree about date-correct carburetors all day long. Harassment, insults, hate speech, and pile-ons have no place here — one report and a moderator will look. Repeated behavior ends memberships.

3. No spam, no scams

The marketplace is enthusiast-to-enthusiast. Do not list what you cannot deliver, misprice to bait, or push members off-platform to close a deal. Vendors sell through the Vendor Hub, transparently.

4. Sell honestly or not at all

A for-sale car shows its documented record — that is the point of this place. Concealing known problems, faking documentation, or shill-bidding interest gets you removed and the community warned.

5. Respect other people’s garages

A sighting post celebrates a car; it does not dox its owner. Never post someone’s address, plate, or personal details. VINs stay masked for a reason.

6. Keep it street-legal

No content that is illegal, sexually explicit, or celebrates dangerous driving on public roads. Track stories welcome; street-racing highlight reels are not.

7. Reports are for safety, not score-settling

The report button feeds a human moderator queue. Use it when something genuinely crosses a line; abusing it to harass another member is itself a violation.

How enforcement works

Every post, comment, profile, listing, and message carries a Report button. Reports go to human moderators. Consequences scale: a warning, content removal, a temporary suspension (they expire on their own), and — for the worst of it — a ban. Moderator actions are logged permanently. If we get one wrong, reply to the moderation notice and a second moderator will review it.
